Abbotsford Veterinary Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care.

We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required. The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house x-ray capabilities, a closely supervised hospitalization area, and indoor boarding kennels with outdoor walking areas.

At Abbotsford Veterinary Hospital we strive to offer not only sound advice, but also optimal veterinary care, thus allowing you the enjoyment of your companion for a maximum number of years. Our job is not only to treat your pet when he or she isn't feeling well, but also to help you learn how to keep your best friend happy and healthy.

 

Radiology Services:Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders. 

We can utilize digital technology to get rapid review from specialists around the world.

We also are currently the only veterinary hospital providing the PennHIP service in the Fraser Valley.

Reproductive Services:

Abbotsford Veterinary Hospital is prepared to help you with your dog or cat breeding program. 

We proudly offer consultation, screening tests, artificial insemination, mismating assistance, caesarian sections and litter exams for our breeder clients.

Anesthesia: 

We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide that extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.

 

Surgery: 

From routine spays and neuters to complex orthopedic procedures such as bone-plating, TPLO for canine cruciate ligament injuries and toggle-pin repair for chronic hip dislocation, Abby Vet has the facilities to care for your pet.  

We have a large sterile surgical suite to allow for a full array of anesthetic monitors and assistants to allow the surgeon to work safely.  We utilize only fresh steam autoclaved or gas sterilized instrumentation for every surgery.  We are very proud of the level of care we provide, and invite you to observe from either of our convenient observation windows.

Laboratory:  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, cytology, urinalysis and parasite testing.

We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.  We offer serum titre testing as alternatives to some annual vaccination protocols and hormone assays as an asssistance to our reproductive services.

 Pharmacy: 

We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, dewormers and flea and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. 

 If we don't have it, we can usually get it for you within 24 hours! 

Abby Vet also utilizes the services of several specialty compounding pharmacies to produce difficult to obtain medications or alternatives for the hard-to-medicate pet.

 Vaccination: 

Abbotsford Vet has a policy of tailoring preventative health to the individual patient of which vaccination is part. 

We now carry dependable products with 3-year immunity duration for "core" vaccintaion of dogs AND cats.  We follow the American Animal Hospital guidelines for vaccination in dogs, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners guidelines for vaccination in cats.

 Electrocardiography Services: 

We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.

 

  Dentistry: 

Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and oral surgery. 

A dental surgeon can be called in to provide specialized services such as root canals and vital pulpotomies.

 Individualized Flea Control Programs: 

We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

 Dietary Counseling: 

We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.

 

 Behavioral Counseling: 

We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.

 

Boarding: 

We provide pet boarding as a service to our clients whose pets require medical care, such as medications or diabetic monitoring. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.

Bathing and De-matting: 

 Routine and therapeutic bathing services are available, as well as "lion clips" for badly matted long haired cats.
