Meet the
Staff of Abby Vet...
 |
Dr. Taylor is a native of Ottawa, Ontario. He
obtained his Bachelor's degree in biology from Queen's University
in Kingston in 1989, and his veterinary doctorate from the
Ontario Veterinary
College at the University of Guelph
in 1994. His great love of outdoor activities such as hiking,
camping and mountain biking made a move to British Columbia a
natural choice following graduation. Following many years of good-natured needling
by friends, clients and even staff at other facilities, Dr. Taylor
finally made the move to running his own veterinary hospital in
2004. He has particular interest in the areas of canine and feline
reproduction, eye and skin problems. Additionly, in 2006 he
has taken advanced training in veterinary orthopedics with
focus on perfecting his approach to repair of canine cruciate
ligament injuries, and the use of plate and screw fixation and
other methods of fracture repair in dogs and cats. |
His beloved companion of 12 spotted years,
Pogo, passed away late in 2004, but Dr. Taylor still manages to
keep the fur-content of his home at a satisfactory level with his
two cats Baker, and Jadzia. He also has a step-dog by marriage and
has now added a Golden Retriever puppy to the household! Since the advent of his first child and the
ownership of Abbotsford Veterinary Hospital, outdoor adventures
have been greatly reduced, but Dr. Taylor still manages to teach
martial arts classes every week. He holds a 4th degree
blackbelt rank in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu. |

Kate -
Veterinary Assistant Kate came to us from Alberta as a recent
graduate of the Acadamy of Learning's Veterinary Assistant course.
She grew up in Aldergrove on an equestrian farm with a huge passion
for animals. Though riding has become a thing of the past, animal
care definitely hasn't. While at the hospital Kate assists in all
aspects, from reception to assisting in surgery. When not here,
you'll most likely find her and her dog Maggie camping, or Maggie's
favorite, swimming! |
 |
Candace - Receptionist Greeting you at our front desk is Candace, another West Coast College Graduate to join our team. Candace has a huge love of all animals, and shares her home with three very special kitties right now. |
 |
Christina - Veterinary Assistant Another recent college graduate, Christina joined us summer 2007. Currently, Christina works with us part time, helping to take care of our surgical and hospitalized patients. Christina has a lovely senior cat named Precious that she shares her home with. |
Kirstin - Veterinary Assistant After working many years in veterinary offices, Kirstin has taken the plunge and has gone back to university to complete her studies! You'll still see her smiling face here on occaision, helping to keep us all in line. Kirstin is owned by a beautiful senior dog named Braxus. |

Apple-
Office Cat Apple is the newest addition to our animal
staff, and is helping Gabby keep all in order. Apple used to be a
barn cat, but now she's the Apple of our eye. A local farmer
brought Apple to us after she had been injured. Apples' right hind
leg had been wounded and had become infected. The bones were
badly damaged, and the leg needed to be removed. Apple's old owners
weren't able to take care of her, so our Doctor's and staff decided
to take her on as a special project. Apple had surgery to remove her old injured
leg, and is now our 2nd resident 3 legged cat here at Abby
Vet. |
 |
Gabby - Office Cat Gabby is chief exeCATive officer in charge
all operations and functions in the hospital. Apparently, the
rest of us here are on the payroll only to ensure that she is
adequately fed and entertained. Fortunately, she has a
remarkable and friendly disposition to all of our visitors, dogs
included. Gabby arrived with the SPCA several years ago after
losing an argument with a moving vehicle. Her protracted stay
after losing a front leg allowed her squatter's rights to the sunny
spot in the admission area, and she's been there ever
since! |
